So the season is now finished for the 1st team and I would like to say thankyou to all the players that played, there are special players who committed themselves for the whole season, these are the lads who I really respect, this league has been strong this year and to go to any game without a full squad puts you under tremendous pressure, it seems any mistake we made was punished and I know they have a tough job but the standard of Referees for me has been very disappointing, we were on the end of some awful decisions and its been hard to take some weeks, there are obviously plus and minus points, the main minus's are a lack of commitment from players and not to much interest in training, the main plus points were, bringing 4 young lads through and them gaining vital experience for the new season, not getting outplayed apart from vs Bromley Green and APM at home and good support from the Romney faithful at away games.

Again a number of absentee's made this a very difficult trip, with no recognised goalkeeper, I had to play in goal and in fairness should have saved Sheppey's goal, a shot from the edge of the area was well hit but I should have done better, a change in formation for the 2nd half proved the turning point, we totally dominated the rest of the game with me only having a couple of saves to make, Wazza turned the Sheppey defence this way and that, Kev and JT linked up well to create plenty of opportunities and a nice bit of control and pass from JT set Kev up to head home, the lads were excellent and Sheppey would admit they were very fortunate to gain a point, if we had come home with a 5-1 win, that would have reflected the game.
I have to say a massive thanks to the boys for today, we had a good day, we were in good spirits and ended the season with a very pleasing performance.

The following 3 games I was away for so have a brief description of each game:
Home vs Bromley Green
Score: 1-8
Scorer: Warren Smith
After taking the lead we then conceded and let 2 late 1st half goals in, Gav Prowse was sent off early in the 2nd half and Green took full advantage and ran riot.
Home vs Staplehurst
Score: 1-0
Scorer: Kevin Ruane
An excellent win against a Staplehurst side who are looking for a top 3 finish, we had lots of chances and missed all but 1 which Kev finished well.
Away vs Larkfield
Score: 4-1
Scorer: Warren Smith
An extremely disappointing result against the bottom side, Demo was always up against it when 6 1st team regulars all pulled out and left the squad very light of quality, although Wazza gave us the lead, we got pegged back and never looked like getting back into the game.

Today we took on the league leaders, who to their credit played well and fully deserved the win, I am extremely disappointed at the way we played, we never got going and did not put them under any pressure.
We were 1 down at half time and I thought we were lucky it was only 1 as we were still in the game and could only improve on the 1st half performance, however we didn't and conceded 2 soft goals in the 2nd half and at the end the boys were gutted.
A nasty injury to Chalky looks like his season may be over, I wish him well and hope it is not as bad as I fear, I am away for the next 3 games so I am handing over the reins to Demo, we play Bromley Green at home on Tuesday evening, the boys need to come together and do themselves proud, our league position is very poor and we are desperate for the points.

A very good 1st half set us up for a positive result, but as we have done too often this season, we gave the game away and ended up losing against a weak Sheerness East side.
A neat 1-2 between Kev and J.T, put Kev through on goal after 30 minutes and Kev cooly slotted the ball under the keeper to put us in the lead, it was no more than we deserved, we had been first to most the tackles and 2nd balls and we had the match under control, we went in at half time very pleased.
Unfortunately we never really got going in the 2nd half, and paid the price, Sheerness East scored 2 goals in the final 15 minutes to take the points.
As the write up shows, I do not have much to say about the match, I am extremely disappointed at the way we stopped playing, Myself and Demo put it down to a lack of fitness, but whether that was the case or just that we switched off due our poor opponents and got caught as we thought we had the game won, either way the 2nd half performance was far from good enough and we will need to do alot better this Saturday when we host league leaders APM.

Weald Of Kent Cup Semi-Final
Vs Bromley Green Away 02/04/2011
Score: 2-0
Squad:Paul Miles,Paul Gardner(Joe Tibble 20) ,Wayne Rogers,Dave Pattenden ,Lee Miles(Captain), Mark Read, Adam Washford, Gary Croxton(Aaron Chalk 75),Paul Waldner, Warren Smith,Wayne Henley, Richard Boorman.
This game was decided by the team who put their chances away, we had 4 glorious chances and Bromley Green had 2, we should have been 3 up by the time they scored but unfortunately we missed the opportunities that came our way.
With Gavin Prowse (suspended), Kevin Ruane (cup-tied) and Harry Hrehorow (working) all missing, we had to move players around which was the last thing we wanted due to our great performance last week and then an injury to Paul Gardner led to another change just after kick off.
We more than matched Green in every department and we looked the stronger side going into half time, where few chances came for either side, although, from an R.J cross, we had 2 players unmarked at the far post with the goal at their mercy, but neither could get the right connection and the ball flew past the post, but we had certainly shown that we were not going to sit back and we was very pleased at half time.
After 10 minutes of the second half Adam Washford had a great chance from 10 yards but his powerful drive went over the bar, I then latched onto the end of an excellent ball from R.J but instead of placing, blasting or chipping the ball past the keeper, I did a combination of all 3 and literally passed the ball to him!, Bromley Green then made us pay, The referee saw a foul (for what I'm still unaware of!), the free-kick was blocked but the ball was hit goalwards, it deflected off a Green player on the line and went in, not a problem, we waited for the flag to go up..........and then waited for the Ref (who was in a better position) to blow for offside......... but suprise suprise, more bad luck! the goal was given and we were 1 down, R.J found J.T late on but he couldn't finish the chance and from the break Green booked their spot in the Final, a counter down our left side saw the winger slide the ball across the box for the forward to tap home.
We rate Bromley Green as possibly the best team in the league and after the game we were all in agreement that we were not outplayed at any point during the game and I think Smithy would admit that we pushed them hard, I was very happy with our performance and the lads deserve alot of praise for their hard work recently, although this wasn't our day, we can take alot out of it and look forward to the league run in, starting at Home to Sheerness East on Saturday.

A fantastic win against title chasing Bredhurst is exactly what the boys needed ahead of our Weald Of Kent Cup Semi-Final vs Bromley Green next week, all the lads rose to the challenge this week and got what they deserved, Bredhurst are a big side who play alot of long high balls and rely on free kicks, corners and long throws to create their chances but all over the pitch the Romney lads won their individual battles and we ended the game with a comfortable victory, yes at times it was scrappy and we did give the ball away cheaply but what a response, Myself and Demo could not have been prouder and happier.
We opened the scoring after 25 minutes, with the ball bouncing around on the edge of the box, skipper Milo unleashed a left foot thunderbolt that flew into the far corner, Wazza and Kevin were causing Bredhurst problems at the back and with Wazza's pace they were reluctant to push forward too much, which gave Adam and Readee the opportunity to pick up second balls and get forward, Man Of The Match Paul made a couple of important saves, but other than that we defended really well and were not in trouble too often.
The second half was only 10 minutes old when Wazza cut into the box and went between 2 players, both caught him and he went down, PENALTY!!! but....... unbelievably the Referee who was excellent apart from this incident, gave Wazza a yellow card for diving, you could say I wasn't best pleased, then to make matters worse, Bredhurst went forward and caught us abit cold, and from 20 yards the forward picked out the far corner, I really felt for the lads, we have not had any luck this season and I thought here we go again!, but we rolled our sleeves up and went for it, Joey Tibble back from injury came on for Wazza and made an instant impression, with 15 minutes left, Gary Croxton powered forward, put a cross to the far post where J.T controlled the ball well, he pulled the ball back for Gazza to bundle the ball over the line, 2-1! then in the last couple of minutes, a great pass from Adam sent Paul Gardner through on goal, he still had plenty to do though, and although he took a Karate kick in his chest, he lifted the ball over the keeper and finished the game!
This was an excellent performance which should give all the lads alot of confidence for next week, Dave Smith will have Bromley Green pumped up and ready for battle, It will be my job to make sure our boys are equally committed, it should be a great game and we are all looking forward to it.

We can't seem to buy a win at home this season, and again we threw 3 points away today, I do feel we have been extremely unlucky in alot of games this season, however for as well as we played in the first 75 minutes of this match, we then stopped and got beaten by an average side who relied on 2 or 3 players to make things happen for them.
The first half was very different to the last 2 games, both teams played some good stuff from the back but when it came to breaking each other down, both sides cancelled the other out and I can't remember any real chances at goal, at half time, the message was to keep it the same for 20 minutes and we'll go from there, we always look to win games, especially at home, we made some subs 10 minutes into the second half and straight away we started to press, some good combination play between Harry and Wazza ended with the Otford keeper making 2 outstanding saves to Wazza from getting the opener, Harry then had a header cleared off the line, then Harry got the ball on the far side of the box and drilled in a low cross-shot, which the keeper couldn't handle and the ball flew in, 1 up and we were looking really comfortable, but straight from the restart, an Otford player was allowed to run unchallenged to edge of our area and his cross was headed out for a corner, the ball came in and after a scramble, they equalised, a goal that should have been avoided, Bill then had a good effort which the keeper saved well again, but then with 5 minutes to go, a low shot which Paul saved well, fell at the feet of their forward who tapped into an empty net, Otford then should have got a 3rd when a penalty was given for a foul by Chalky, but the strike went wide, the whistle went and a very disappointing game which was in our hands finished.
This defeat hurts as we should be beating teams like Otford and unfortunately we only have ourselves to blame for not going on to pick up 3 important points, we are at Home Saturday vs a very solid Bredhurst side who are going for promotion and have to keep organised and switched on for the full 90 minutes.

Another high scoring draw, which again excited the fans and gave me more grey hairs!
The perfect start, after just 5 minutes, good work from Kev and Dan upfront put Paul Gardner into the box, he went round the defender and was brought down to win us a penalty, up stepped RJ and he placed the ball into the corner, Sheppey then spent the next 20 minutes knocking on the door and got a deserved equaliser from a corner which was headed home, Gav Prowse was then given a yellow card for a hard but fair challenge, 1-1 at HT and we was reasonably happy with that.
The second half was only 7 minutes old when the whole game changed, Gav was given an extremely harsh second yellow, thats when the Referee lost all control of the game, what had looked like a good, honest game, had turned into a match were noboby knew what decisions were going to be made next, Sheppey won a penalty when it seemed the Ref had given a spot kick for a foul, but he hadn't, our defended picked the ball up to protest and gave the official no choice but to blow for handball! 2-1 down, the opposition then had a player sent for 2 yellows, with 15 minutes remaining a goalmouth scramble allowed Billy Briffitt to smash us level, we then shot ourselves in the foot with a defensive howler and the Sheppey forward took advantage to put them back infront, we pushed hard for a point but their keeper made some good saves, but then an awful stamp from a Sheppey player resulted in him being sent off, we through everything forward and right at the death from a corner, Milo was hauled down and the Ref gave us pur second penalty, a Sheppey defender was sent off for protesting to much and RJ cool as you like sent the keeper the wrong way, the final whistle went and reached for my Asthma pump!
I have got to be honest and say the Referee was horrendous, however he was terrible for both sides so I won't take it personally!
But the faithfull witnessed another exciting game which was end to end and full of drama, 4 red cards, 3 penalties and 6 goals.

A great to watch if you was a neutral but not as a manager! by the end of the match I had no finger nails left!
We were due a decent performance and today we got it, a really good all round effort, the boys put everything into it and we were very unlucky not to have won the game.
We were 1-0 down after only 2 minutes when a corner came in and Marcus Hodges( some of you may remember) scored at the far post after not being picked up, new signing Kevin Ruane scored on his debut from a tight angle with a great left foot drive to level the game at half time, had it not been for 2 good saves from the home keeper we would have been in front.
The second half was end to end from the 1st minute to the last, Milton again went in front when a ball to the far post was drilled home, a great ball from Adam Washford sent Kevin Ruane clear 10 minutes later and he cooly chipped the keeper to even it up again, 2 fine saves from Paul Miles stopped Milton from regaining the lead and we wasted at least 4 excellent chances, but with 6 minutes left Marcus Hodges was fouled in the box and stepped up to convert the penalty, the lads were down but certainly not down, we went on the attack and after a scramble inside the opponents area the ball fell for Ruane to complete his debut hattrick, a chance right at the death for Ruane shaved the post and the referee ended a great game of football.
Debutant Kevin Ruane made an instant impact and is already abit of a hero for the Romney faithfull, Dan Rose also made his debut for club, impressing on the right hand side, we had Chalky back for the first time since a nasty injury and he did well for the last few minutes, but overall the whole team deserve a big pat on the back for the commitment shown to keep their heads and battle back after going behind 3 times, Wayne Rogers was excellent at the back, marking the ever dangerous Hodges very well throughout.
Next up is Sheppey at Home and another performance like today will stand us in good stead.

Squad:Paul Miles, Dave Pattenden, Rob Stevens(Paul Gardner 65), Wayne Rogers, Gavin Prowse(c), Gary Croxton, Mark Read, Adam Washford, Joe Tibble, Richard Boorman, Warren Smith (Bill Briffitt 75).
An awful 1st half saw us give Premier a 4 goal lead, which we could not pull back, we did not do nearly enough defensively to stop Premier breaking forward and catching us out, they only had 4 shots in the whole half, we failed to track the runners, we didn't shut the player down in posession quickly enough and we lost our shape far to easily, having said that, we created more chances and if Premier had a different goalkeeper on the day it would have been 4-4 at half time!
We had a good chat during the break and still felt the game could turn with an early goal, but we had to wait until the hour mark before Wayno turned and drove a good shot into the bottom corner and with 10 to go, Gazza popped up with a great header from R.J's cross, and again if it wasn't for their no1 making great saves from Wazza, Gazza, Billy and Captain Gavin Prowse we really could have turned this game upside down, but a miserable 1st half proved to be the killer for us.
The difference in the 2 halves was there for all to see, I always look for the positives and I have to say that at the end there was plenty, again Adam Washford was excellent upfront and Wazza returned to the side and looked dangerous when he run at the full back, but the weak goals will be what everyone will remember and they cost us dearly, we are away vs Bromley Green in the Semi-Final of the Weald Of Kent Cup this coming Saturday and we simply can't afford to start like we did today, it is our last chance to win a cup this season and I am always confident when we take to the pitch before a game as we are a very strong team, if we can iron out the silly mistakes I believe we can win a place in the Final.

Vs APM Mears Away 12/02/2011
Score: 2-0

APM were top of the league and unbeaten so we knew what was in store for us when we arrived, however at the end of the match I felt we deserved a point, APM had the majority of the possession but we were very rarely troubled and it took 2 fortunate goals to beat us, Adam Washford worked tirelessly upfront but it is a position we are struggling with at the moment with Warren Smith, Harry Hrehorow and top scorer Joe Tibble all unavailable for different reasons, until young Bobby Gilbert came on after 20 mins, Adam was pretty much on his own upfront, winning alot of balls in the air, but with no support.
APM are a big side and the only time we looked in danger was from set pieces and in injury time at the end of the first half they scored from a corner, a ball to the far post was headed back and it fell to a forward 2 yards out to tap in, it was a kick in the stomach to the boys, APM's second came after 70 minutes, when another corner came in and Paul made a good save low down, but with the ball in his hands the same forward kicked it from his hands and scored, the lads were furious, I can only presume the Referee was unsighted, the goal stood and we were 2 down, Adam went through on goal and was hacked down on the edge of the box, a red card you would think, but the Ref did not even speak to the defender and all we got was a free-kick, Captain Milo had a goal bound shot blocked and the game fizzled out.
It was another loss for us which is very disappointing, it is a season where a couple of wins can send you 4th but a couple of losses can put you down in 9th, so every point is vital, I was happy with our overall performance but with no strikers or that little bit of luck it was tough.
We are at home vs Premier this coming Saturday, they are a team we lost 4-3 against earlier in the season and are one of the sides around us, so picking up points against them will be crucial.

On a horrid afternoon weather wise, we produced one of our worst performances this season, although it was the same for both teams, the blustery conditions made it extremely hard to play good football, this really did make it a 50-50 game against a struggling Kennington side who started the match bottom of the league, I can not take anything away from the visitors though, they shut us down very quickly and used the weather to their advantage, we tried to play but never put them under any real pressure.
We was 1-0 down at half time when an awful error at the back allowed a Kennington forward to race through and finish well, we were still confident that we could win the game going out for the restart but after 5 minutes a hopeful ball into the box floated with the wind and somehow fell into the far corner, we got a goal 10 minutes later from an RJ corner, he whipped the ball in and it evaded everyone and nestled in the far corner, and although we spent much of the remaining time in their half we could not find a way through.
I believe I can speak for all the staff and players in saying that we were extremely disappointed with ourselves today, a win would have sent us 4th, but as it stands we have dropped a place, after good performances lately I did not expect us to be as flat as we was.
We are away vs APM next Saturday and we will all be looking for a big response from each other,I know the lads are much better than they showed today.

2 league wins on the bounce and 3 really good performances have the lads, Demo and myself in good spirits, it is always a difficult game v University as you never know what side they are going to put out, they played well but we matched them and took the chances that came our way.
We were 3 up at half time after J.T hit a fabulous hattrick, his 1st came after 10 mins when he hit a lovely curling effort from 20 yards that found the far corner, his 2nd was a superb scissor kick that came from an Adam Washford flick on and his 3rd came when RJ slipped him down the edge of the box and he rifled in from a tight angle, we defended really well in the opening half and was rarely troubled.
At half time it was important the boys didn't go back out and think the game was over as this has happened before and weve paid the price, and although we stepped off the pace for much of the 2nd half, we pulled together and saw the game out reasonably comfortably, University did pull 1 back from the spot with 20 mins left, after the ref gave a penalty for what seemed an excellent challenge, we could have extended our lead late on when an nice 1-2 between R.J and J.T saw J.T hit the bar.
I have to say well done to top scorer Joey Tibble, who is getting better every season, he was clinical with his chances today and was a constant pain to Uni's defence, Paul Boorman had a fine game at sweeper and once again Paul Miles had a really solid game in goal, but a big thanks to all the lads who have worked incredible hard the last few weeks and are now seeing the benefits.
We are at Home (at last) this Saturday when we host Kennington with kick off back to 2.45pm.

Yes the scoreline looks rather one sided and for anyone who didn't see this game it would come across like we were on the end of a hiding, but for 90 minutes we were well in this match and I feel we were the better side, we had to soak up pressure in the first half, they hit the post and Paul made some great saves, but we also hit the woodwork when RJ hit a 35 yard freekick against the bar, we looked strong coming into half time but with just a minute left, Milo was caught with a bad challenge but instead of a foul being given the referee unbelievably played on and their forward from 20 yards put the ball in the top corner, so when the whistle went we went in 1 down, the lads felt hard done by but instead of moaning and feeling sorry for themselves they came out flying, for the first 20 minutes we pushed and pushed for an equaliser, then RJ chipped the keeper from 25 yards to put us level and for the rest of normal time we had Bly on the ropes, in the final minute RJ shot from outside the box, the keeper fumbled and Milo put the rebound in! but the Linesman put his flag up and although he admitted Milo was onside it was someone else who was off, the goal was chalked off, the whistle went and the boys had done themselves proud, unfortunately for us we had to play extra time and with the long lay off the lads didn't have alot more in the tank, they made some changes and their fresh legs proved the difference, we switched off at times and didn't go with our men and got punished for our errors.
So it ended 5-1 and obviously we were downbeat after the game, but I have to say how proud I was as the boys worked their socks off, played as a team and stuck together for most of the match, and although we got beat I feel we took a step forward, I saw plenty of spirit and belief and came away quite upbeat, we are away vs University next Saturday, we lost Mark Wallis through injury in the warm up and Harry Hrehorow in the morning, so I hope they will both be back for the trip.

As we had not played for a few weeks, I was a little unsure how we would perform today, we were a little sloppy at times and gave the ball away but overall I was extremely proud of the way we played, we always looked to go forward, play nice football on a soggy pitch and we worked really hard without the ball, I could not have asked for more from the lads.
We started the brighter, dominating the opening 15 minutes and got a well deserved goal through skipper Milo, an RJ corner was headed across goal and the keeper did well to keep it out but as it was in the air Milo rose highest an finished well, JT then scrapped the bar with a thunderbolt from 20 yards, we then sat back and invited Otford onto us, a miskick at the back allowed a forward to race clear and score in the bottom corner, but the half finished well with 5 minutes left a great solo run from new signing Mark Wallis took him into the box and he cooly slid the ball to RJ who wasn't going to miss from 8 yards.
The 2nd half was pretty much all us, Otford pushed 3 upfront but we coped really well with any pressure, and I can't remember Paul making any saves, we scored our 3rd when RJ played the ball to Greg and he found JT inside the area who turned and smashed the ball low past the keeper, JT had 2 goals disallowed towards the end and in fairness the score could have been better.
I was very happy with the boys, they run all day and we can take this good result into next weeks game at home vs Bredhurst.

A draw that felt like a loss is what we felt at the final whistle, I have been happy with recent performances, weve just missed that bit of luck, but we were far from our best today, we was missing Wayno and Gav through suspensions and JT, Readee and Bally were all working, these are all players who play most weeks, however the squad today should have been strong enough to beat a Larkfield side who have lost a few players and are struggling in the league, It seems the better the opposition the better we play and the weaker the opponents the wosre we play.
We never got going in the 1st half and were behind after 30 minutes when we got opened up with a nice one-two and an excellent finish in the top corner, at half time we had words and to be fair the second half was much better, still sloppy at times, but better, we got level with 20 minutes to go, when Milo smashed in a great strike from 20 yards, we pushed and pushed for the winner, the game got a little dirty towards the end, Larkfield had 2 players sent off, we had a couple of good penalty shouts turned down(again!), and that was that, weve got to improve next Saturday when we host Sheppey in the league, kick off at 2.00pm.

Individual errors cost us the win in a game which we controlled for long periods, we had some great chances, played some good stuff, hit them quickly on the counter and scored 3 well deserved goals.
We went 1 down after only a minute, a Premier winger was not shut down, allowing him far to much time to put a nice ball in, and their big forward rose highest to head into the far corner, 25 minutes in and we got an equaliser, good work from JT put RJ one on one with the defender, he cleverly skinned him and past the ball into the bottom corner, then right at the end of the 1st half, a defensive blunder let their forward in and he got a little lucky but finished nonetheless.
We started the 2nd half really well, getting back on level terms when an RJ corner was headed across goal by Milo and JT was on hand to put the ball over the line, I felt confident we would push on but, another lapse in concentration gave Premier the opportunity to score again from close range, then with 15 minutes left good work from Bally and JT ended with the ball at the far post and RJ was there to smash us level once again, although I thought we should have won, I would have taken a point at that stage, but in the last minute, yet another mistake led to a Premier winner.
I really have been happy with the boys for the last 3 or 4 games including today, however we made too many simple mistakes in vital areas and paid the price, Premier did not score one good goal, all of them came from us making errors, we have to learn from these so we can improve, Gazza and RJ had a really good game and it was nice to see Dan Ball back from a long injury absence.

The lads were absolutely brilliant today, they all worked really hard and run through brick walls for each other, it was a great team performance, unfortunately there was 1 man who took it upon himself to make sure we would not go through into the next round.
Iknow referee's have a very hard job, they can never please everyone and I respect that, however I can not believe what I witnessed today, how 1 man can have such an effect on a game.
It is fair to say that if we had taken the chances that came our way, we would have comfortably won the match, J.T hit the bar and had a good chance, Wazza and Milo both had opportunities to score aswell but the gods were not smiling down on us today.
Otford scored first after 20 minutes when Disco brought an opposing player down on the edge of the box, the Ref gave a penalty and it was
put away, we got back level when a great run from J.T and a lovely pass from R.J set up Gazza to drill the ball home, it was a really well worked goal and no more than we deserved.
We scored with 10 minutes remaining when Wazza broke clear and cooly finished, I think we all thought that was enough, we had coped well with their attacks for most of the day and looked like we would score pretty much when ever we went forward, the Ref signalled 4 minutes to be played but for some reason decided to keep playing after that, Otford then got a corner 7 minutes into injury time and bundled the ball over the line, extra time and the lads were on their knees.
We had a blatant penalty turned down (surprise surprise) when Wazza was hacked down and then a minute into the 2nd half of extra time, their midfielder screamed a 20 yarder into the top corner, a late chance came and went for us, Wayno was sent off for a bad challenge and that was that, the final whistle went and all the Otford boys were happy maybe the man in black had a smile aswell!
I felt extremely sorry for my lads who were crushed to go out, we can except being beaten but not in the way in happened today, I hope we never have to go through that again.
We are away vs Premier in the league Saturday and if we put as much into that as we did today we should be o.k.

We got a well deserved win against a very good side who are unbeaten in the league and have only lost 1 game all season in the cup vs Stansfeld, we also lost on the opening day against Bredhurst 1-0 so we knew it was to be a tough game.
We started great with a goal in the 1st attack, Milo played J.T in and he crossed for Gary Clarke to finish after only 20 seconds, J.T got on the end of an excellent through ball from R.J just before half time and cooly placed in past the keeper to put us 2 up, in between the goals, Milo had a goal ruled out for some unknown reason and Clarky and J.T hit the woodwork, if we had gone in 5 up at half time, Bredhurst could not have any complaints, they had a very lively front line who were a constant threat all day but for much of the game, the defence stood firm and defended really well.
The 2nd half started like the 1st when after only 4 minutes Wayno headed against the underside of the bar from an R.J corner and top scorer J.T prodded the ball home, 3 up and we were buzzing, but Bredhurst then went route one a caused us problems, they got 2 goals in 10 minutes which made a certain part of my body twitch a little, but we saw the game out and recorded a fantastic victory.
I have to say how proud I am of the boys, they worked really hard for this win, played some great football and showed real spirit, J.T got Man Of The Match for his 2 goals and all round play but the team were excellent today and I'd like to say a big thankyou for way the squad performed.
We are at home vs Otford next Saturday, again in the cup, kick off at 1.30pm.

Home vs University Of Kent 06/11/10

Playing against University is usually a very tough game, but before the match, they had played 3 and lost 3 in the league, so although I still expected us to have to work hard and play well I was confident we would pick up a valuable 3 points, as it was I was glad to get a draw in the end.
We didn't play very well in the 1st half, we huffed and puffed but never really got the ball down and play the football we know we can, especially at home, Uni took the lead after 30 minutes with a scrappy yet well finished goal, we should have cleared the ball, long before the forward had the chance to shoot, but didn't and got punished, 1 down at half time and I was not a happy man.
The 2nd half was much better, we switched formation and got alot more of the ball and looked really dangerous going forward, we won a corner after 65 minutes and Van Pursey challenged with the keeper, the ball fell to J.T 6 yards out and he smashed it in!, we looked like we would go on to win it, but got complacent from a throw in 10 mins from time and the guy had time to take a touch, turn and get a cross in, the Uni forward got a shot away but Matty made a good save, only for the ball to be bundled in on the line, I expected the worse to be honest, but the boys really went for it and got the reward with 2 mins left, R.J put a lovely corner in and Prowsey rose highest to powerfully head us level!, a great move ended with J.T crossing and Van Pursey hitting the post with the last kick of the game.
A great game for the neutral, however I was unhappy with both goals we conceded, I believe we should have had a penalty when, J.T was hauled down and Matty made a fine save during the 2nd half which was vital, at the final whistle I felt like we had lost the match, but on a positive note, I have to say well done to the lads for not giving up, I suppose a point is better than nothing at the end of the day.
We are at Home vs Bredhurst next Saturday in the cup, so the kick off will be 1.30pm, we will have to start the game in the manner which we finished this one as they are a very good team, but I have alot of confidence in the group of players we have and look forward to the game.

It's not often a manager comes out after his team has been beaten 3-0 and says he was happy with the way the team played, well thats exactly how I feel tonight.
After having 6 key players pull out over the week, I was left feeling a little bemused, angry, let down and confused, the squad know how important this season is and still we have lads who seem uncommitted, I believe we have built a really strong, competitive squad who can challenge not only for the league but for cups aswell.
Having said that, the 12 members of today's squad can hold their heads high after an excellent performance, yes, we conceded possession, but playing 1 up front, thats always going to be the case, however, we battled for every ball, won the majority of tackles and created some excellent chances, I can't remember the last time we had any luck at Bromley Green and today was no different, we had a blatant penalty turned down after Harry was brought down in the box, J.T smashed the ball in at the start of the 2nd half only for the Ref to judge he handled it first, it took a fine save from Craig Smith to deny Prowsey from 20 yards and on another day we would have buried a few of the other chances that came our way.
We conceded after 30 minutes, a poor goal when a corner was flicked on at the near post into the net, and let 2 more in late on, to be fair both could have been avoided, but we were pushing on and got caught.
As I have said, I can not fault any of the boys today, Mark Read came in and was brilliant in the middle along with Prowsey and Milo, Billy had a great game at right back, Wazza and J.T looked dangerous out wide and again Harry put himself about upfront, Wayno, Paul Gardner and Gazza looked quite comfortable at the back and G-Reg was great when he came on, so all in all, yes it was a bad defeat, but I look at the positives from today and I liked the commitment the boys showed.
We are at Home next Saturday vs University and todays team have showed the heart that is required at this level, and given me a big headache ahead of next week!

I was looking for the lads to really push on from last weeks result against Lydd, but unfortunately we didn't, we did not go forward at our usual pace and we only created 2 or 3 chances which was strange to see, there was a spark missing today, and we looked quite flat at times, however there were positives, another clean sheet, the boys worked extremely hard off the ball and as a team we defended very well.
Milton are a strong, fit, well organised side who caused us problems for the majority of the game, we had key players missing, but having time to reflect on the game I definately see this as a good point and am reasonably happy tonight, it would of course be great to win every game however this isn't always possible and the pleasing thing was that we dug in and didn't lose the game.
We are away vs Bromley Green in the league next Saturday, which I expect will be just as tough as today.

I am so happy and proud to say we came out winners of this hugely anticipated marsh derby thanks to goals from J.T and R.J.
It was nice to see so many supporters down at the Maud to cheer the lads to victory and I'd like to thank each and every one.
It was quite a scrappy game, neither side played much football but that was to be expected with local pride at stake, we got off to a flyer when Harry put G-Reg through after 30 secs but he was shut down when about to shoot, Harry then latched onto a poor backpass and it took a fine save by their Keeper to keep it 0-0, we broke the deadlock when J.T fired a cross in and it evaded everyone and ended up in the far corner, lucky, but we'll take it!, went in 1-0 up at H.T, the 2nd half was very tight, but when J.T crossed for R.J to smash the ball into the net after 75 minutes, the game was over, in fairness Lydd had quite alot of possession but we defended really well all day and Matty was excellent when called apon.
Praise must go to all 14 members of the squad, but I have to say Milo, Adam Washford and Harry were awesome today, we are at home again next Saturday, where we face Milton in the league.

A very pleasing victory after last weeks disappointing performance, we created lots of chances, played some lovely football at times and defended really well throughout the game.
We had 8 players from the 1st team squad pull out this week for different reasons but still put a strong side out against a team we usually struggle to beat away from home, the match started with us on the attack, G-Reg and R.J having shots, we then had to soak up abit of pressure, with Kennington having 4 corners in quick succession, however after 20 minutes, Gary Croxton played a lovely ball over the top for G-Reg to race onto and bravely finish, 6 minutes later, after a corner was headed clear, R.J pinged a great ball into the box and Wayno slotted home from close range ( which now makes him joint top scorer!!! ), we went in at half time 2 up, I was happy but the lads knew they could have done abit better, in truth we were a little sloppy, but after last week I was happy with the response.
15 minutes into the 2nd half, a cross was cleared but from 20yards, Adam Washford slammed a sweet left foot volley into the top corner, we then conceded a comedy goal from a free kick which evaded everyone and bounced over Paul, they then pushed forward but we defended really well and cleared any danger, 5 minutes from time Harry curled a beauty from outside the area into the top corner to seal the points.
We changed our formation this week and looked alot more solid, Harry was excellent upfront bringing the wide lads into play, J.T had his best game of the season, R.J got more involved after switching into the middle, Gazza had a solid game at left back, but I was more pleased by the way the boys played as a team and when we did have to defend, we did so as a team, everyone worked extremely hard, and after G-Reg and Prowsey got injured it was down to the old timers on the bench to come on and add abit of steel!!!
We have a massive game next Saturday, our 1st home game of the season sees us host our old rivals Lydd Town in the Weald Of Kent cup, we are hoping for a large crowd to cheer the lads on.

I can have no argument with this defeat, we were in it for 20 minutes then as soon as Tonbridge took the lead, they got stronger and we got weaker, a 2nd right on half time was a kick in the teeth as I hoped we would get at them from the restart, however within 15 2nd half minutes it was 4 and the tie was out of reach, they got a 5th with 20mins left.
At times it looked like men against boys, but in truth, the difference between us was fitness, they didn't give us anytime on the ball and we allowed them to much time and space to pick passes.
This performance was not good enough and I expect alot more from the boys, I expect them to train hard this week and respond to this awful result, I know we are much better than what we showed today.
We are away vs Kennington in the league Saturday.

After 2 defeats, we finally got the win we deserved, there was some outstanding individual performances, but more importantly it was a great team display.
We put alot of hard work into the first 70 minutes and switched off in the final 20 which almost cost us but anything other than a Romney win would have been a travesty.
After starting positively, I thought we were in for more bad luck when 15 mins in, a harsh penalty descision gave Staplehurst the opportunity to take the lead, but Matty made probably the finest penalty save I have seen, however from the resulting corner, they did score, a free header 6 yards out, but what a response from the boys, we won a corner ourselves 5 mins later, and bang! Wayno smashes the ball into the net from 3 yards, 10 mins later, a great run and cross from the ever dangerous Bally found JT at the far post, get in! RJ had a couple of efforts blocked, Prowsey tried his luck from 35 yards and fizzed it just wide but we went in 2-1 up at HT.
A perfect start to the 2nd half, as Wayno sprayed a fine 40 yard ball over the top, the excellent Van Pursey raced clear of the home defence and drilled the ball past the keeper, 5 mins later, Bally again tricked his way past 2 men, squared to JT who curled a great shot into the bottom corner, we were on top and completely in control, but with 20 minutes remaining the lads must have thought I need a few more grey hairs and stepped off the gas, A run from their centre back past 4 players, resulting in a pass on the edge of the box, found a forward who turned and finished well past Matty, then Matty got injured and was replaced by Paul Miles, his first job was to pick the ball out the net, as a heavily deflected goal made it 4-3 with 10 to go, we saw the game out but to be fair we should have been out of sight, we got sloppy and nearly paid for it.
I was so pleased to hear the final whistle and really proud of the way we played, well....... for most of the game!
We do not have a game this Saturday, our next match is in the cup, away vs Tonbridge who are in the league above, so it will be a big test for us, our cup match vs Lydd Town has been rescheduled and we will now face them at Home on Saturday 16th October.

Score -3-1
Squad: Paul Miles, Paul Waldner, Richard Boorman, Gavin Prowse, Andy Bennett, Rhys Taylor- Ryall, Adam Washford,Lee Miles, Joe Tibble,Gary Clarke , Harry Hrehorow, Paul Gardner, Warren Smith, Wayne Rogers.
A 2nd away defeat in a row and the worst possible start to the new campaign, however unlike last week, we created many chances, with new signing Harry, who was a real presence up front and was an excellent target man, being denied by the home keeper, R.J hitting the bar from the edge of the area, Wazza and JT having close range efforts blocked on the line again by the keeper and defenders, we played some really nice football and competed for every ball, and with a bit of luck could have had a comfortable win.
We took the lead after 15 mins when an R.J free kick found the bottom corner, Sheerness East equalised from a well placed free kick which was headed into the top corner after 35 mins, 5 mins into the 2nd half, a Paul Colenutt 30yd free kick was rifled in and their 3rd was scored on the break late on when we pushed on looking for a leveller.
Although we were beaten, I was happy with the commitment from the lads and there was plenty of positives to take from the game, with Paul Miles standing in for Matty Ellse making 3 outstanding saves, new signing Harry and Romney legend Andy Bennett both impressing, Gary Clarke played his 2nd game for us and will hopefully commit, Gav Prowse picked up a nasty ankle injury after a naughty challenge and fingers crossed will make a swift recovery.
We are playing Staplehurst away next Saturday.

Score - 1-0
Squad: Matt Ellse, Paul Waldner, Richard Boorman, Dave Pattenden, Greg Hitchman, Mark Read, Adam Washford, Ross Dunford, Daniel Ball,Gary Clarke , Steven Rice, Paul Gardner, Warren Smith, Wayne Rogers.
The boys and myself went into today's season opener upbeat and looking to continue our good pre season form, however in a game with very few chances and not alot of football being played, we were beaten by a weak goal scored in 1st half injury time, R.J, Wazza and Ricey all went close,I felt a draw was probably a fair result, but we couldn't find an equaliser.
We were obviously very disappointed to lose, but with another trip up to the island next week we must improve our concentration and work rate.

Away vs Tenterden 28/08/10
K.O - 2.45pm
Score - 2-3
Squad: Matt Ellse, Lee Miles, Gavin Prowse, Dave Pattenden, Greg Hitchman, Mark Read, Adam Washford, Adam Purse, John Carr, Gary Croxton, Steven Rice, Paul Gardner, Warren Smith, Wayne Rogers.
In our final Pre-season friendly we got the win which was pleasing, we had alot of possession and knocked the ball about well, however due to good defending from Tenterden we were unable to make that final pass count enough, it was good to see us play on the front foot, we are playing a very strong team next Saturday in Bredhurst Juniors, and I believe we can get the 3 points, but we must be committed and continue to improve.
Tenterden only had a couple chances in the game and scored 2 sloppy goals, Ricey finished cooly after a great pass from Disco, Ricey then fizzed a ball into the box which took a very very very slight touch off Wayno, with 5 mins left Ricey sent the keeper the wrong way from 20yds with a fine strike and got his 2nd.
I am extremely happy with the squad we have for the new season, adding good players and playing a different style from last season, so come on the Romney!

I was very happy with our performance, we dominated periods of the game, keeping possession with some lovely slick passing, we also worked hard without the ball which was very pleasing and we created some good chances, we were 2 up at Half time after new signings Paul Waldner and Ricey both finished clinically, Adam Washford hit a 25 yard screamer and R.J buried a 20 yard free kick, then with 10-15 minutes to go, we stepped off the pace and conceded 2 penalties which were both scored.
We have 1 friendly left which is Tenterden away on Saturday 28th August, kick off is 2.45pm.

Squad: Wayne Dodd, Paul Waldner, Gavin Prowse, Dave Pattenden, Greg Hitchman, Mark Read, Ross Dunford, Adam Purse, Richard Boorman, Gary Croxton, Lee Miles, Rhys Taylor-Ryall, Paul Gardner, Dan Ball.
A disappointing 1st half performance cost us against a very fit side, who exploited the spaces we gave them, all 4 goals were scored in the 1st half, with G-Reg once again on target after good work from Van Pursey.
We changed things at Half Time and the 2nd half we played alot better, not allowing Hythe time on the ball and had a better shape about us, in the end i was very pleased with the response of the lads.
A huge thankyou to Doddy and Ross for coming in at very short notice after we had a couple of lads pull out.
Our next friendly is at home vs Brewmaster on Tuesday 24th August, kick off is at 6.30pm, we will be looking for revenge after losing 3-1 against them last pre-season.

A very pleasing win, with some good football, plenty of chances being created and the lads worked their socks off, which will give them good match fitness in preparation for the start of the season.
Our goals were scored by R.J, Disco and G-Reg, who has now scored 4 in 3 and having a great pre-season.
A debut for new signing Steven Rice, who played very well up front and young Paul Gardner picked up a nasty eye injury.

Goals from Van Pursey, G-Reg and the impressive Daniel Ball gave us a draw against a full strength Invicta Reserves side.
We played some really good football at times and had Matty been in goal I believe we would have had a comprehensive victory, Kane came in at short notice and helped us out, although we conceded 3 goals, I thought we defended very well, we looked to play from the back which was very pleasing, attacked with pace and kept possesion well at times.
Paul Waldner, Daniel Ball and Richard (R.J) Boorman all made there debuts and look very good signings.
Our next friendly is against Folkestone Res again next Saturday at home kick off at 3.00pm.

Score: 2-0
Squad: Matt Ellse, Gary Croxton, Phil Johnson, Wayne Rogers, Rob Stevens, Aaron Parker, Mark Read, Wayne Henley, Luke Webb, Adam Purse, Warren Smith, Jimmy Smith.
A very pleasing end of season game which we deserved to win, S.East have always been a hard working, good footballing team, and we knew this was not going to be an easy match.
The 1st half saw Wazza have a couple chances that were saved by the away keeper, while Matty didn't really have to much to do with Wayno, Gary and Johnno all defending very well, we shut the opposition down quickly and didn't give them anytime to play there football, the half ended 0-0.
Into the 2nd half and we played slightly higher up the pitch, and put pressure onto S.East, our first goal came after a good pass from Readee put Van Pursey in on the edge of the box, he turned the last defender and drilled the ball under the keeper, with half chances going just wide, we had to wait until 10 minutes to go when a mistake at the back aloud Van Pursey to capitalise, shooting low past the keeper to give us the points.
I am really pleased with the workrate showed by the lads in the last 2 games, and it ended an inconsistent season on a good note.
The supporters player of the year went to Disco Dave Pattenden and the Goal Of The Season trophy was awarded to Gary Croxton for his wonderful volley away vs Sheerness East earlier in the season.

Score: 3-1
Squad: Wayne Dodd, Wayne Rogers, Phil Johnson, Lee Miles(c), Rob Stevens, Luke Webb, Greg Hitchman, Aaron Parker, Mark Read, Wayne Henley, Warren Smith, Chris Jones.
A well deserved victory for us after a really enjoyable game.
With quite a few players out, we fielded what looked like on paper a weakened team, as it was, we worked harder and played better than we have for a few games.
The first half saw us apply some early pressure with Wazza having a shot from the edge of the box which was saved, then he stepped over the ball to allow Me to have a clear shot 6 yards out, only for the old timer to fluff his lines, University got the break through with just 5 minutes remaining, a corner was whipped in and headed in unchallenged, it was the only real chance they had in first half.
The second half was pretty much all Romney, Chris Jones went through after 5 minutes of the restart, the keeper made a good save only for Johnno to be in the right place to volley home the rebound, 15 minutes later saw an Azza corner headed home by the has-been, our tails were up and we started to enjoy the game, after 80 minutes the game was effectively over when I sent G-Reg through 1 on 1 and he calmly chipped the keeper.
A really good win against a fit and well organised University side, we have 1 game left this season and after this performance I have a few decisions to make regarding squad selections.

A big defeat in our last away game of the season against Woodstock Park, who were crowned champions afterwards.
We went 1 down after 40 minutes, after working extremely hard to get a foothold in the match, a corner was swung in, went right across the box and tapped in, then right on half time, a good run and cross from there left winger gave a forward another tap in.
The 2nd half saw us push on a little but didn't make any real chances, then after an hour a cross from out wide was headed home and it was 3, Johnno was then sent off for 2 yellow cards, a midfielder then lobbed Doddy with a nice volley to end the scoring.
John Carr made his debut and made their keeper make a neat save, we did not do enough during the game to get anything from it and well done to Woodstock Park who probably deserved to win the league.
We have 2 games remaining, both at home.

Score: 2-1
Squad: Matt Ellse, Paul Boorman, Paul Gardner, Wayne Rogers, Rob Stevens, Luke Webb, Lee Miles(c), Matt Ford, Mark Read, Adam Purse, Joe Tibble, Greg Hitchman, Gavin Hooper, Wayne Henley.
We came away from this defeat with our heads held high and unlucky not to have got anything.
Bromley Green are pushing for the title, play some excellent football and with Dave Smith as manager are always focused and up for any game.
At the start we gave away possession and had a sloppy 25 minutes, Matt Ellse got down well to deny the forward, pushing the ball onto the post, but after half an hour a corner was whipped into the near post, flicked on and ended up in the net, then 5 minutes from half time, Ryan Smith hit a great 25 yard free kick into the top corner, 2 nil down and we were struggling, but in stoppage time, a great knock down from Pursey played in JT, who smashed the ball into the far corner, it gave us confidence for the 2nd half.
We got to grips with their midfield, began winning the 50-50's and kept the ball much better, Pursey had a half chance, but it went just wide, then JT had to come off, G-Reg was on, and he made a big impression, with his pace and clever touches, the home defence had something different to deal with, we pushed forward and a lovely flick from Pursey put G-Reg through, his shot was saved but the rebound went across the box, Sticksy had a shot which was blocked on the line, then with an open goal, 5 minutes to go, Pursey was taken out just as he was about to shoot, PENALTY!, the referee said no, and the game ended on a very sour note.
Young Paul Gardner came in and made his debut, playing 90 minutes and looked as if he had been playing there all season, he had a fine game and got vital experience.
Matt Ellse sustained a hamstring injury and is missing for our next game, the leaders Woodstock Park away, if we perform like we did in the 2nd half today, I am confident of a win, we have already played them 3 times this season, W1 D1 L1, so the lads know exactly what to expect.

Squad: Matt Ellse, Paul Boorman, Gavin Prowse, Wayne Rogers, Luke Webb, Rob Stevens, Jimmy Smith, Mark Reid, Lee Miles(c), Gavin Hooper, Joe Tibble, Wayne Henley, Adam Purse, Gary Croxton.
A hugely disappointing result, in a game which we simply didn't do enough to win, the 2nd half was a big improvement on the 1st.
With once again big players for us dropping out, and Kennington having there strongest team available it was going to be a hard game.
Kennington opened the scoring with a well worked goal, we didn't track the runner, who smashed the ball past Matty, a deflected free kick midway through the 2nd half put us real pressure to get something from the game, then good work from Robbo put JT through to finish neatly past the keeper, 2-1 at ht.
We looked much brighter in the 2nd half and had some decent possesion without putting to much pressure on our opponents and the match finished with us being beaten.
Matty made some fine saves during the game, Jimmy Smith, Hoop Dog and Gav Prowse had good games, coming in at the last minute to help us out, and a big thankyou to them.

Score: 3-1
Squad: Matt Ellse, Phil Johnson, Rob Stevens, Wayne Rogers, Gary Croxton, Aaron Parker, Luke Webb, Mark Reid, Lee Miles(c), Ross Dunford, Wayne Henley, Kev Bennett.
After getting 4 points in 4 days last week, we looked forward to this game, however, at kick off time we started with 8 fit players, it's been a frustrating few days for me, with regular starters pulling out for different reasons, but when the whistle went, I was confident we could get the result.
With Staplehurst not interested in playing any kind of football, we had an awful lot of long balls to deal with, we started the better with both myself and Reidy having good chances to score, but they opened the scoring 20 minutes in, when a ball over the top caused confusion and Matty was lobbed, we responded well and from a great free kick from Sticksy into the box, Johnno headed powerfully into the top corner, then a rash challenge from Milo gave away a penalty, only for Matty to make a great stop with his foot.
We never really got any momentum going in the 2nd half , with the lads working hard in the heat we got forward few times, a Staplehurst forward scored from 20 yards and a late lob gave them the points.
Obviously I am very disappointed in the result, but have to say a big thankyou to all the players who gave everything for the team, also to Lee Madden for letting me take Ross and Aaron, who both had good games and ran all day for us.
We are away vs Kennington on Wednesday night, with kick off at 6.30pm

An excellent win which could have been even better, a big thankyou to all the players who finished work and made the game, also to the large amount of support, the lads really appreciated it and responded with an enjoyable game.
At the beginning and for the next 15-20 minutes, the game had a friendly feel about it and we were abit flat, but we started to play good football and with Pursey and Wazza up front, we were always dangerous, we got the opener after 25 minutes when, Chalkys quick throw found Wazza in too much space and he lobbed the keeper from just inside the box, we controlled the play and created half chances for Robbo and Sticksy, but had to wait until just before half time to get our second, a clever flick from Wazza was met with a neat volley past the keeper from Pursey.
The second half was played in Kenningtons half with any long balls being dealt with by Wayno, Johnno and Disco, Pursey, not before crashing a 25 yard volley against the bar and Disco were replaced by Reidy and Kev, with 20 minutes left, the pressure paid off when, a nice ball from Kev put Reidy through and he placed the ball into the far corner, the young debutant then drove a great shot into the top corner from the edge of the area 10 minutes later,Reidy had a great game and was a constant menace to Kennington, a late goal from ..............Robbo, who deserved to score after being unlucky a few times.
It was great to keep a clean, but in truth, Matt Ellse did not have a save to make and with the defence and midfield working hard it aloud us to attack at will, we had a solid game against a usually much stronger Kennington, but it was very pleasing to see us knock the ball about get some goals.

A fantastic point against the league leaders, Woodstock Park look as though they will win the title and we knew this was going to be a tough game.
The 1st half started positively for us as we knocked the ball around, got tackles in and put Woodstock under some pressure, with everyone working hard we played much of the half going forward, a few long balls and some nice crosses had Wayno, Johnno and Disco on their toes and they dealt with any danger, then right on half time, a neat knock down found a forward who volleyed in from 20 yards, it was the only time we switched off and we got punished.
10 minutes into the 2nd half, Wazza skinned 2 defenders and crossed to the far post, where Sticksy was waiting to pounce, and drilled the ball into the far corner, I could only see one winner and although we pushed on and went for it, we couldn't find a winner.
Matty Ellse made a couple of excellent saves at vital times for us, Wazza was Man Of The Match, the Midfield won their battle and we defended really well, it was an enjoyable match that on another day we would have got a couple more goals.
We play Kennington at Home on Tuesday evening (20/04/10) with Kick Off at 6.30.

Score: 2-1
Squad: Matt Ellse, Dave Pattenden, Phil Johnson, Wayne Rogers, Rob Stevens, Luke Webb, Aaron Chalk, Lee Miles(c), Matt Ford, Gavin Hooper, Warren Smith, Aaron Parker, Wayne Henley.
A strange game that hinged on 5 flashpoints, a hard bobbly pitch which we tried to play some football on and Otford went from a to b as quick as possible, neither side really created any clear cut chances and apart from the 5 incidents the game would have probably ended 0-0.
Incident 1 - Matt makes a poor clearance and swears, the ref awards an indirect free-kick 10 yards out and its fired into the top corner.
Incident 2 - The lads reacted well to the terrible decision and pushed forward, we were given a penalty when an Otford defended handelled insided the area, Sticksy stepped up and the keeper made a good save low down in the corner.
Incident 3 - A Sticksy corner which found it's way in at the near post.
Half and it was 1-1.
Incident 4 - Another handball gave us a second penalty which Sticksy took and fired wide (this was not going to be our day).
The last incident came with 20 mins left, a loose ball which should have been cleared fell to an Otford forward 20 yards out and he rifled it in.
As I say it was a weird game which you had to see for yourself to believe.
In regards to the league table this was a really bad result for us, we are at home to the top side Woodstock Park next Saturday, so we will have to be at our very best to get the points.

Score: 6-2
Squad: Matt Ellse, Dave Pattenden, Phil Johnson, Wayne Rogers, Luke Webb, Rob Stevens, Aaron Chalk, Matt Ford, Lee Miles(c), Joe Tibble, Warren Smith, Adam Purse, Mark Reid, Wayne Henley.
A great win which was totally deserved, we bossed the game pretty much from start to finish.
We got our 1st goal after 20 mins, we played some nice football which opened Larkfield up, Wazza rounded the keeper and got his 1st goal for the 1st team, he only had to wait 10 mins before he latched onto a JT pass and fired the ball into the bottom corner for number 2, soon after it was 3, when Sticksy put in a great corner and captain Milo headed powerfully into the top corner, HT came and I was so pleased to us perform the way I know we can.
Early in the 2nd half we won a free kick 20 yards out which Sticksy hit but the keeper saved, Man Of The Match Matt Ford struck the rebound in and it was 4, Larkfield won 2 penalties in a clumsy 10 mins, both taken very well, 4-2 and we had to sort things quickly, the lads did this and I then replaced Robbo with Mark Reid and the impressive Warren Smith with Adam Purse who didnt take long to get on the scoresheet, finishing at the back post after a fine cross from Sticksy, with 10 mins to go Mark Reid who was full of energy when he got on played a great ball to the far post and I headed home for number 6.
It really was great to see us play like we can, free flowing attacking football and we now have to take this performance into next week when we are away to Otford.

Away vs University Of Kent 03/04/10
Score: 3-1
Squad: Matt Ellse, Rob Stevens, Dave Pattenden, Wayne Rogers, Lee Miles, Aaron Parker, Adam Washford, Matt Ford, Luke Webb, Joe Tibble, Warren Smith, Greg Hitchman, Wayne Henley.
A hugely disappointing result against quite a poor University side, the 1st half was terrible, we conceded 3 goals and a penalty which Matty saved, the 1st goal was a harmless cross which ended up hitting Wayno on the back and going in, the 2nd was a hopeful ball over the top, and the forward run onto it a fired past Matt, the 3rd was from a cross, a weak header somehow went through Matts hands and in.
The 2nd half was much better, Matt Ford, who was by far the best player on the pitch, scored early with a superb 20 yard strike, we then hit the bar from a Wayno header and Wazza then had a header cleared off the line.
This was a game that we need to forget about a.s.a.p, and we also need to learn not to make basic errors, as we are geeting punished for everyone at the moment, I have to say we are probably the most unluckiest team in the league, but we are sometimes the master of our own downfall.

Score : 1-0
Squad : Matt Ellse, Rob Stevens, Phil Johnson, Dave Pattenden, Wayne Rogers, Aaron Parker, Paul Boorman, Luke Webb, Lee Miles(c), Kev Bennett, Warren Smith, Matt Ford, Aaron Chalk, Wayne Henley.
We were very unlucky in a game that I took only positives from, Premier are a fit, well organised side, who play from the back and have some dangerous players going forward.
We had a change in formation and looked more like the team I know we can be, every player played their part in a much improved performance.
We started o.k but after only 10 minutes Premier put a nice 1-2 together and we lost the winger who slipped into the box and neatly passed the ball past Matty, but after that we soaked up any pressure and tried to play some football, which was tough on an awful pitch, Kev Bennett raced through 1 on 1 with the keeper to beat, only for a bad offside decision to deny him, Robbo who had a really good game down the right, attacked a Sticksy corner and headed straight at the keeper, but at half time I was quite happy with the way we had played.
In the second half we attacked more and played slightly higher up the pitch, which enabled us to use Wazza more, Warren worked his socks off up front and was a constant threat all day, he bravely went in for a header late on in the match which ended with him getting clattered by the keeper and the ball goalbound, but a defender got a toe in, and stopped it from going in, Wayno had a goal disallowed for a dubious hand ball call from the ref, who I have to say was not the best weve had this season, we pushed hard to get a result but it was not to be.
I saw a real team performance today and although we lost I was happy to see us more like ourselves.
But more importantly, I think the lads enjoyed it.

Score: 2-1
Squad: Matt Ellse, Rob Stevens, Phil Johnson, Wayne Rogers, Lee Miles(c), Aaron Parker, Paul Reese, Paul Boorman, Aaron Chalk, Luke Webb, Joe Tibble, Gavin Prowse, Wayne Henley, Paul Dempsey.
A confidence crushing defeat, that had us all wondering how we can go from beating the top 3 teams in the league to being beaten by a very poor Oakwood side.
Oakwood worked hard, but never really played any football, we dominated long periods of the game, without making their keeper do much, Paul Reese hit a post, Joe Tibble who had a good game up front went close twice and Luke Webb's corners were a constant threat, with Wayne Rogers and Phil Johnson almost scoring.
Oakwood scored an early goal after some confusion in our defence, some pushed out and the rest stayed, which left 2 players unmarked 6 yards out, tap in, Sticksy scored when JT went past 2 defenders and squared it for a tap in, Oakwood got their winner with 5 mins remaining, a deflected shot, which summed the day up.
We are having a tough spell at the moment and the players know they have to work alot harder than this to get through it, I am confident we will, sooner rather than later.

In recent games against Sheppey we would have seen this a decent result, but sadly it felt more like a defeat, due to missed chances, good Goalkeeping and bad passes in good positions.
We started quite well, playing some good football and had a couple of half chances, but after 20 mins a poor challenge just inside our box led to a penalty for Sheppey, which was placed neatly into the bottom corner, we then a had a sloppy spell for a few minutes, a mix up in the visitors defence led to Kev Bennett finishing well with his left foot, that was Kev's 1st goal for the club and but for a couple of good saves from Sheppey's keeper, he could have had more, we finished the half the stronger side and went in quite happy.
After 10 mins of the restart, Gibbo had a fine strike from the edge of the box, which the keeper pushed into Disco's path, he drove the ball in left footed, we were in control, but couldn't get a killer 3rd, with myself and others giving the ball away in really good areas, we paid the price when, with 10 minutes left, a Sheppey forward pounced inside our box and scored, we pushed hard for a winner but had to settle for a point.
With Oakwood away this coming Saturday, we have to take the positives from this match, I felt there was alot we did well but just rushed the last pass to often.

We were all very disappointed with the result at the end of a scrappy game in which either side could have won, we didn't play our usual passing game or close our opponents down quick enough, but all credit to APM who although didn't play much football, did work hard to shut us down and put us under alot of pressure with the long ball, which is how they went 1-0 up, midway through the 1st half a long ball caught us out and it resulted in a foul on the edge of our box, Brett Ince smashed it in and we finished the half without creating many chances.
With the wind behind us and the 2nd half only 30 secs old, Gibbo latched onto Disco's pass and finished calmly into the bottom corner, that should have been the lift we needed but with the APM keeper making some great saves and passes going astray, another long ball caused a mixup at the back and Chris Pearce pounced and scored, then another free kick on the edge of our box, Brett Ince scored, top corner, Paul Reese made his comeback after a long injury and with 5 mins left, he volleyed home from 10 yards!, it was really good to see him back, we pushed on and had some half chances but couldn't find an equliser.
No excuses, but it has been difficult only playing once or twice a month, and I am sure next week vs Otford we will have a positive response.

Score - 4-1.
Unfortunately we were knocked out of this competition at the worst stage, myself and the lads were really gutted at the end, as we only had ourselves to blame.
As most games weve played this season, we created the better chances but failed to put them away, we should have been 2-0 up before we conceded, we went 1-0 down after 25 mins when their winger was given too much time and space to pick out the forward, who tapped in, 5 mins later it was 2-0, a scrappy goal that could have been avoided, we went in at HT with our heads down as we were not doing ourselves any favours, but the 2nd half was much improved and again we carved out some really good opportunities, but it wasn't until 10 mins left that we scored, a really good solo effort from Gibbo, we had our tails up, we then got a corner which bobbled around but didn't fall to us, they cleared and scored on the break, then with the last kick of the game, Cray got a 4th.
I was really pleased with Warren Smith, who made his 1st team debut, he came on after 20 mins for the injured Luke Webb and had a really good game.
With no cup games left now, we are looking to have a strong run in the league, we are away to Oakwood this coming Saturday.

Score: 2-1
A massive game for us ended in a well deserved victory, Premier were league leaders before kick off and started stronger, having most of the possession and enjoying the space we allowed them, and scored after 25mins, but that seemed to kick us into gear and we pushed forward, creating some good chances, with JT, Kev, Gibbo and Sticksy all having shots, then Gibbo pounced, rounded the keeper and slotted in the equalizer, Kev Bennett then drove into the box and was brought down for a penalty, but the keeper made a good save from Gibbo and it was 1-1 at HT, we started the second half like we finished the first and then after an hour Wayne Rogers found Sticksy with a great ball, and Luke did the rest with a cool finish under pressure.
We then closed the game out, with Matt Ellse untroubled towards the end.
This result will hopefully give us the confidence to push on and move up the league.
The squad would like to dedicate this match to David Wratten.

It would be fair to say the scoreline is not a true reflection on this game, it was similar to the match we had against Woodstock Park 2 weeks ago, we created the better chances but did not take them, their goalkeeper made some very good saves in both halfs, we went in 0-0 at half time and seemed reasonably comfortable, but a sloppy start to the 2nd half put us under pressure, a needless corner led to their 1st goal, then after an hour, a free-kick was put to our far post and tapped in, the flag went up for 2 players in an offside position only for the referee to overrule and give the goal, the 3rd goal came 10 minutes from time, a nice finish from the edge of the box.
Without sounding like a bad loser, I have to say that the referee’s performance was at best, shocking.
But well done to Woodstock Park who overall probably edged it.
We will need to improve on our 2nd half display in our next game to gain valuable league points, we are at home this Saturday to top of the table side Premier.

Managers Comments:
Myself and the players were buzzing after an exciting game ended with a last minute goal from Man Of The Match Gavin Prowse.
It has been a long break since our last game and I did wonder what the fitness of the lads was going to be like, but against a physical, hard working Woodstock Park side, who have lost just once in the league this season, we showed both sides of our game.
In the 1st half we had lots of possession and attacked at pace, but only had 1 goal to show for it, good work from Dave Pattenden set Aaron Parker up for a chance to score, but his shot was saved and the ball fell to James Gibson to tap in, the 2nd half was a different story, Woodstock had lots of the ball and we had to defend and work very hard, they did not create any clear cut chance’s and it took a wonder strike from there sub to level the match, we could have dropped our heads but didn’t, we pushed on in the last 10 mins, and after 3 successive corners, Gavin Prowse pounced to win the game, we now look forward to a semi-final!
A big thankyou to groundsman Sir Jeff Best for his hard work during the week to get the game on.

Score: 1-1
Squad:Wayne Henley,Paul Waldner,Wayne Rogers,Gavin Prowse,Adam Washford ,Lee Miles(Captain), Mark Read, Gary Croxton,Kevin Ruane, Warren Smith,Joe Tibble, Sub Not Used: Paul Dempsey.
Division 1 East
Vs APM Mears Home 16/04/2011

Squad:Paul Miles,Paul Gardner,Wayne Rogers,Aaron Chalk (Adam Washford 70) ,Lee Miles(Captain), Mark Read, Gary Croxton,Kevin Ruane (Alan Sterling 60) Warren Smith,Joe Tibble, Sub Not Used: Ben Parker.

Division 1 East
Vs Sheppey Home 12/03/2011
Score: 3-3
Scorers: Richard Boorman (2) & Bill Briffitt.

Vs Premier Home 19/02/2011
Score: 2-4

Score: 2-0
Scorers:
Squad:Paul Miles, Dave Pattenden(Paul Gardner 70), Wayne Rogers, Gavin Prowse, Gary Croxton, Rob Stevens, Mark Read, Adam Washford, Lee Miles(c), Richard Boorman, JamesTurner (Bobby Gilbert 20), Unused Sub:Matt Hope.

Away vs Sheerness East 11/09/10
K.O - 2.45pm

Our next friendly is away vs Hythe Town Reserves on Tuesday 17th August with kick off at 7.45pm.

Considering Rye are 2 weeks away from the start of their season and we have been training for only 2 weeks, I was extremely happy with our overall performance, we let in some soft goals but kept going and in the end it was a great workout for the lads, our goals came from J.T, Rhys Taylor-Ryall and G-Reg(2).

Home vs Sheerness East 15/05/10

Away vs Woodstock Park 03/05/10
Score: 4-0
Squad: Wayne Dodd, Gary Croxton, Phil Johnson, Wayne Rogers, Mark Read, Rob Stevens, Paul Boorman, Matt Ford, Lee Miles(c), Joe Tibble, Warren Smith, Greg Hitchman, John Carr, Wayne Henley.

Away vs Bromley Green 01/05/10

Away vs Kennington 28/04/10
Score: 2-1

Away vs Staplehurst 24/04/10

Score : 5-0
Squad: Matt Ellse, Dave Pattenden, Phil Johnson, Wayne Rogers, Luke Webb, Rob Stevens, Aaron Chalk, Lee Miles(c), Matt Ford, Warren Smith, Adam Purse, Mark Reid, Kev Bennett, Gary Croxton.

Score: 1-1
Squad: Matt Ellse, Dave Pattenden, Phil Johnson, Wayne Rogers, Luke Webb, Rob Stevens, Aaron Chalk, Lee Miles(c), Matt Ford, Warren Smith, Adam Purse, Mark Reid, Paul Boorman, Kev Bennett, Gary Croxton.

Away vs Otford 10/04/10
Division 1 East
Home vs Larkfield 05/04/10
Division 1 East
Division 1 East
Away vs Premier 27/03/10

Away vs Oakwood 20/03/10

Home vs AFC Sheppey 13/03/10
Score: 2-2
Squad: Matt Ellse, Dave Pattenden, Aaron Chalk, Gavin Prowse, Lee Miles(c), Luke Webb, Joe Tibble, Paul Reese, James Gibson, Wayne Rogers, Kev Bennett, Matt Ford, Warren Smith, Wayne Henley.
I have just seen the fixtures for next week and, we are now at home to AFC Sheppey.

Home vs APM Mears 06/03/10
Score: 2-3
Squad: Matt Ellse, Rob Stevens, Aaron Chalk, Gavin Prowse, Lee Miles, Joe Tibble, Matt Ford, Dave Pattenden, Wayne Rogers, Warren Smith, James Gibson, Paul Reese, Luke Webb, Wayne Henley.
